Lucia Babjakova is an instinctive colourist who creates a bridge between abstraction and figurative art by the use of strong primary colour, ruthless honesty of form and expressionistic vigour. She is not constrained by one specific style and her work refuses to be categorized simply as she paints across a number of generic styles. However, all her paintings are clearly linked by her distinctive vision that illustrates her individuality and her bold artistic independence. Her work is never obscure and always compelling, but also unaffected by commercial or fashion considerations.

She has not followed an orthodox route to being a professional artist, having moved countries as a child, trained and bred pit bull terriers in the USA as a teenager, learned to speak four languages fluently, and now studying aesthetics and languages at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. In 2005 her exhibition schedule included the internationally selected Biennale in Florence, in 2006 Brno in Czech Republic and Barcelona.
