My art career has been long and varied! I started making and selling jewellery and cards at the age of 15, progressing to Sheffield Hallam University to study art. I then took my City and Guilds in jewellery/silversmithing before taking up a post at a local manufacturing jeweller as a jeweller/designer. My work sold all over the world and was chosen for the catalogue of the World Gold Council. During this time I also started making hand-painted watercolour cards and painted glassware which I sold everywhere from shops to Glastonbury festival!! I teach classes in both these disciplines and wire sculpture too.

I am currently working on much larger paintings than previously and they have a much more ambient feel than my earlier figurative works. However, recent commissions have included 2 large Rothko-inspired canvases and 2 smaller fairy-themed paintings which just goes to show that you never know where your art will take you! I have a website, www.pinkheartdesigns.com which gives more information! I paint on canvas, hardboard or hand-plastered board - in fact, anything that can be painted on! I work in mixed media, mainly acrylics, and my pieces are usually done “wet on wet” so I work very fast but some have layers of blended colour which take longer. Colour is my real passion and inspiration. I am always looking out for interesting contrasts or blends, on flowers or buildings, skies or even people! It doesn’t matter where the idea is from - it just has to spark an idea.
