Born and raised in the Eden Valley, Cumbria, Linda Whelpdale developed her knowledge and love of the countryside and wildlife in the company of her father, a Gamekeeper for a large Estate, and her Grandparents who where farmers, this gave her the opportunity to study wildlife and their habitats in all seasons at close quarters. The precision with which Linda depicts each animal or bird marks her out as an artist with an easy ability to capture the correct posture of her subject in the most accurate and minute detail. Linda is best known for her paintings of mammals and birds. Her preferred media are acrylic or watercolour which enable her to achieve the fine detail for which she is known.

Her work has been published as greetings cards for Camden Graphics, she also produced detailed pen and ink illustrations for Border Fine Limited edition model certificates.
Linda has won several awards and prizes, the first at the age of eight, a painting of Badgers won the 1st prize in the Brookbond young wildlife artist competition.
Since then there has been many more, including; the painting ''Lazy Days'' won the Midland Bank Visitors Choice Award for the ''Most popular painting in show'' at the Tullie House First Open Exhibition, and her painting of two otters ''Fishing for a compliment'' won the same prize in the Third Open show.
Her paintings are in private collections throughout the UK, and around the world. Selected Exhibitions
